Any Deaf in the La Junta, Colorado, area? - I'm a hearing person who knows some sign but getting rusty because no Deaf to chat with here in this VERY small town! Hearing woman looks for Deaf Man for Dating:

I am a 25 year old single woman. I am looking to meet someone and see where things can go. I work full time and I am a college student.

I love spending time with my friends and family, going to baseball games, playing roller derby, reading good books, eating yummy food, and doing anything new or fun. The 1Up is my new fav. place to go down town.

So, here is the thing. I am not Deaf. I am hearing. However, I know and love ASL. I am not sure the PC way to go about this, but I would love to meet someone who is Deaf to be friends with and/or date.

I have a lot to learn about ASL and the community, but I do know somethings and really would love to learn more from a sweet, handsome guy!

Please feel free to e-mail me.

[Note from The Colorado Deaf Social Network Team]:

Aurora Mall in Denver - Deaf Chat / Social for Parents with Young Kids

by Roxy (Denver/Aurora)

How about a Sunday / Saturday event about once a month for parents with kids?

Some of us can chat and hang out others can just chase our kids around! It would be a great language exposure for the little ones and a good social time for us adults!

I'm thinking Saturday at Aurora Mall after 5:00 during the family night event, or other events are fine too!

Medical Marijuana + Deaf MMJ patients in Denver, Colorado by Jason (Denver, CO)

Hello ! We are a reputable medical marijuana dispensary located in downtown Denver, Colorado.

We are trying to raise awareness within the Deaf community - we have 2 fluent sign-language speaking store associates working every Saturday and Sunday specifically to cater to Deaf MMJ patients of Colorado.

We feel that the Deaf community should be just as informed (and enjoy their experience just as much) as somebody with regular hearing.

In addition to offering these services to the deaf community in Colorado, we also employ 2 full time individuals who happen to also be Deaf (this is how this all came about).

Anybody that is interested in learning more can register on our website at:

Thank you again and God Bless !

Award winning producer/director Darla Rae is casting a feature film to be shot in Colorado in July 2012.

The film is titled Spirit of Love, the Mike Glenn story

The film is about retired NBA player Mike Glenn who started at the Georgia School for the Deaf and ended up in the NBA.

He made good on a promise as a child to start a basketball camp for the Deaf and HOH youth and has been running it for 33yrs.The film is about Mike and the kids at his camp. It is a family film.

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO BE A MOVIE STAR? Here is your chance. we are casting for all ages, and ethnicities. All types of skills are needed whether you have acted or not.

We obviously need youth 13-18 who are Deaf and HOH to play the kids at the basketball camp, but we need lots of roles. So if you are a parent of a Deaf child or a sibling of a Deaf or HoH person we need you.

We also need help behind the scenes working on crew. This project is being used to work with local youth allowing everyone involved to experience film-making firsthand. This is a paying opportunity. There are various NBA players involved in making this film.

If you are a teacher, parent, interpreter or student interested in getting involved in this great family film please tell others and contact us!
