Musician Going Deaf

by Barbara
(Broomfield Colorado)

Greetings,

I am a former retired music teacher who is losing hearing. More than 50% is gone and I'm just beginning ASL classes at UNCO in Denver. I live in Broomfield but would travel 1/2 hour or more to meet with someone to become friends and improve my signing!! This may not be the right forum for that but thought I'd take the chance.

I was a classically trained musician so this has been hard for me. I am still able to hear music some so do still enjoy opera and I discovered the Mile Hi Church in Lakewood where the music is fine and the ASL signer just great.

I'd love to meet with someone actually deaf. My Mom was pretty much deaf at end of her life so I am very sensitive and just wish she had learned sign language. I have a niece who does sign for a living in Rochester, which is actually where I went to college.

Well that's my War and Peace for today. Hope I hear back from someone.

Barb
